As part of Scottish Tree Festival, Castle Kennedy Gardens are delighted to offer visitors a fantastic Champion Tree Trail. With nearly 300 Years of tree planting, a favourable climate that benefits from the Gulf Stream, the Gardens provide a home for an amazing 95 Champion Trees, the tallest or broadest of their species in the British Isles! These include 12 British Champions, 30 Scottish Champions, 44 Dumfries and Galloway Champions and 9 trees described as 'otherwise remarkable' by The Tree Register. Fine and rare examples such as the Swamp Cypress, Taxodium Distichum, the Umbrella Pine, Sciadopitys Verticillate, Dawn Red Wood, Metasequoia, Californian Red Wood, Sequoia Sempervirens can be found within 75 acres of garden space. With the aid of a specially printed map, you can explore over 20 of these amazing trees. The trail takes you from one end of the garden to the other.
