Due to access restrictions in place as a precautionary measure while Historic Environment Scotland undertake high level masonry inspections, there is currently no visitor access to this site.

This splendid ruin was once the luxurious Renaissance home and pleasure gardens of Regent Morton, in his heyday Scotland's most powerful man.
Today visitors can explore the beautiful walled gardens which include an orchard with eighteen varieties of apples, aromatherapy plants and herbs including camomile, lemon balm, rosemary and lavender, Jerusalem sage, catmint and curry plant.
No matter what the time of year there is always something interesting to see. During May there is the first flush of colour closely followed by the Globe Thistle which blooms around late July/early August. In winter visitors can see the chocolate cosmos, cotoneaster and viburnum which add intense seasonal colour and aroma. Booking in advance is recommended to guarantee entry.
