St Andrews Botanic Garden is a living research and conservation experiment where we explore the ways ecology and evolution unfold in the plant kingdom - right at the heart of historic St Andrews.

We're home to some of the most dynamic plants and habitats, from both Fife and around the world.

We aim to address the new combination of challenges the natural world is facing with positivity, creating an ecologically vibrant place to explore and learn about evolution and botany.

Our newest addition is the Tangled Bank, showcasing the very best of North East Fife plant life. Incorporating sand dunes, meadows, glades, meandering grass paths and a boardwalk, the Tangled Bank is a beautiful space to spend time.

Our Visitor Centre offers delicious, locally-prepared cakes and sweet treats from The Cottage Kitchen St Andrews, as well as hot and cold drinks and our Gift Shop and Plant Sale.

How to find us

On Foot/Bike: The garden is located on Canongate and is a 10 minute walk from the centre of St Andrews. The easiest route is to follow is via Viaduct Walk from the town, which brings you onto Canongate. Viaduct Walk is a shared path for bikes and walkers. We have bike racks at the garden.

By Public Transport: The 99C bus route goes past the garden, to/from the town or to Dundee.
The nearest train station for the garden’s is Leuchars, you can get the any 99 bus from the train station to St Andrews and the garden (normally every 10 minutes).

By Car: We have a free car park at the garden. For satnavs, our postcode is KY16 8RT.
