Visit Hopetoun House and Grounds and discover a place of beauty, tranquility and architectural magnificence dating from the 17th century filled with stunning collections and scenic walks.

    How to find us

    Driving Directions
Use postcode EH30 9RW if you’re using Sat Nav, which will take you into South Queensferry to Farquhar Terrace. From here you will be able to follow the brown signs to Hopetoun and it’s a straight road from this point.
Avoid using the postcode for the House as this may direct you to a locked gate at the west of the Estate.

    Car Parking
Parking at Hopetoun is free of charge with the exception of large public events where additional charges may apply.

There is no public transport provision to Hopetoun House; buses and trains operate to the nearby towns of Newton and South Queensferry. From here, it is 1.8 miles and 2.2 miles respectively to Hopetoun.
Taxi services are also available in South Queensferry.
The main entrance to Hopetoun forms part of the Forth Cycle Route – NCN76. Bicycle parking areas can be found in the main visitor car park as no bikes are allowed in the Grounds themselves.

    Group visits

We are delighted to welcome pre-booked coach tours and group bookings to Hopetoun. All options include access to our extensive grounds and there is no charge for the driver or the guides accompanying the group.
We offer special prices for group bookings of 15+ guests as follows during the open season:
£12.00 per person for a free-flow visit - the guests will be given an introduction and welcome to Hopetoun House by our guides and then will be free to explore the House at their own pace, or with your own guide. We recommend that you allow at least 1 hour to go around the house. There are interpretation sheets in all of the rooms and guides are available to answer questions. Translation sheets are available in French, German, Spanish and Italian.
£13.50 per person for a guided tour (15+ guests) - the guests will be given an introduction and welcome to Hopetoun House by our guides in the front hall and then will be led around the house on a guided tour. All tours are given in English and last for approximately 1 hour. If the group have any specific interests, such as art, architecture or Outlander, please let us know in advance and our guide will tailor the tour accordingly.
Our prices include VAT and assume that the final confirmed number in the group will be +15 people, however, in the unlikely event that numbers fall below 15 we would still charge for 15.

It is still possible for Group visits to Hopetoun on our “closed” days, but it is dependent on availability of staff and assuming that there are no private events taking place. Unfortunately, we cannot offer catering as The Stables Kitchen will remain closed from the end of September - Easter and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
£16 per person for a guided tour only - information as above.
Our prices include VAT and assume that the final confirmed number in the group will be +20 people, however, in the unlikely event that numbers fall below 20 we would still charge for 20, therefore the minimum charge for an out of season visit is £320.

Hopetoun delivers award-winning, curriculum linked workshops for schools, involving drama, role play and costume. We offer four full-day indoor workshops led by our Education Team and three environmental education workshops led by our Rangers, all linked to the Curriculum for Excellence. For more information contact our Education Team on 0131 331 2451 or email [email protected].
