Associations & Clubs

In almost every locality in Scotland a horticultural society, club or association may be found and many have existed for at least a hundred years. Keen and enthusiastic gardeners of all kinds join these organisations and pay an annual subscription. In addition to normal every day communications between members, meetings are generally held once a month from Autumn to Spring at which guest speakers are invited to give a talk. Plant sales are organised, trips are made to interesting gardens in other areas, and the highlight of the season is the annual flower show at which members and local gardeners show off their prowess.
