The Stables Visitor Centre – 5th birthday

September 29th 2022

The Stables Visitor Centre at Cambo Gardens in Fife opened in October 2017 following a £4m redevelopment, providing exhibition space, Tack Room Shop selling produce, plants and gifts, and renowned vegetarian café from chef Gillian Veal.

The Stable block dates from the 1760’s and is now celebrating its 5th birthday as a visitor centre. On Saturday 8thOctober a day of nature crafts will take place with a team of Cambo Kids hosting stalls and music alongside an annual plant sale of unique plants and bulbs straight out of the magical walled garden. On Sunday 9th October – the birthday itself – a garden tea party will take place with cake decorating activities, herbal teas and freshly pressed apple juice from the garden. Children and adults are invited to take part in a ‘Birthday Bake off’ bringing a prize bake to decorate in the Cambo tent and potential to win top prizes!

Managing Director Keri Ivins said ‘Its been something of a 5 years since we opened our doors especially since 2020 having seen such a renewed love of nature and the outdoors and lots of people enjoying the magic of Cambo Gardens. It seemed a lovely idea to mark our 5th birthday with lots of fun activities for the local community and we have been pressing our orchard apples already to make lots of celebratory juice. Here’s to the next 5 years and the next stage of developments of our remaining stables, we’ll be looking to the community for consultation on how best to use these amazing spaces.’

Throughout Autumn a variety of other events are happening from pumpkin picking and carving to festive markets and wreath making.
